Copper Backsplash – Attractive and durable, a rear wall of copper gives your kitchen a warm appearance and protects the wallboard under your kitchen cabinets. The back wall can even make a small kitchen appear larger. But like other dashboards, copper attracts dust, grease and dirt. It is important to clean the copper on a regular basis to prevent darkening and changing colors.
Use a mild soap solution, half a cup of liquid dishwashing detergent and 2 cups of warm water and a soft cloth or rag to clean the copper backsplash. When cleaning the rear wall, pass it gently, and then rinse the cloth or cloth with hot water from a sink. Drain the excess and wipe the back wall to remove any soapy residue. Dry copper backsplash with a clean, dry cloth or rag.
When copper backsplash contact elements acid or outdoors, a green substance, known as a veneer, appears on the copper surface. The oxidation process occurs over time, especially if you splash an acid or acid-containing substance in the rear wall. To remove the patina, if desired, rub with salt and then with lemon slices. Salt and lemon counteract the patina and break. Then complete the steps in the “Cleaning” section.
